Ancient Earth

By Phyllis Pipkin, CMT, CPT, CLT

The Earth represents not only dirt and soil but also is the foundation for abundance, growth, harvest and stability. Earth has a magnetic force, an innate compass from which flows an ancient keystone of power. Being one with the earth teaches us to slow down, relax and come from a place of gratitude. It reminds us to celebrate, remember traditions and that there is an ancient power in the rites of ceremonies. Our earth is constantly showing us, regardless of the situation, there is continuous abundance. A perfect example is springtime and new life. Earth teaches us patience and co-creates abundance. It magnetizes us to every person, creature and growth on this planet. The Earth has a “negative” field we seek to help us discharge the excess positive ions collected with our bodies during the day. When we are not grounded we feel edgy, nervous, unfocused and more susceptible to the emotions of OTHER people around us.

There are conscious ways to “develop” the ability to be “one with the earth”.

1) Eating Root Veggies such as parsnips, burdock, onions, turnips, carrots, beets, garlic, parsley, yams, maca, radishes and ginger.

Root veggies grounds and calms you because they are rich in minerals and vitamins. These provide mental stamina, endurance not to mention supporting you nutritionally to fight “dis-ease” in the body. Root vegetables are great source of complex carbohydrates that assist in regulating the blood sugar levels. They are low in calories, a rich source of many B vitamins, high in fiber and excellent blood purifiers. Many of the different root vegetables are good sources of Vitamin E, B, Beta-Carotene, low in fat, high in anti-oxidants which go after free radicals that cause cancer, strokes, heart ailments and other diseases in the body.

2) Using grounding crystals or gemstones that naturally ground and protect you such as hematite, onyx, smoky black quartz, amber, black obsidian, jasper, and black or dark tourmaline.

When you cannot go to the mountains, stand by a waterfall, or work in the dirt then grabbing your healing stones will to help bring you into balance and centered again. Using these gemstones, you can carry them in your pocket, have them on a necklaces or bracelet, using them around your computer or just holding one in your hand. These stones, depending on what you choose can ground you, calm, transform negative energy to positive, regulate creative flow, and harmonize you with your surrounding, relief stress. Some stones can support you through a period of grief, instill self-control and discipline or anchor you into your ideas or inspirations. Often because of the different frequencies or hertz vibration they, carry you can use them in healing the physical along with the spiritual.

3) Working in your yard, garden or whatever plants you have in your home by repotting, trimming, pruning, etc. Placing your hands literally in the dirt allows you to receive the negative ions and discharge the positive ones so you feel more balanced, calmer, able to plan and to make decisions because to distracting yourself in the healing earth “energy”.

When you ground with the earth you are literally exchanging negative and positive ions to balance and harmonize yourself to the earth, where healing and calmness is. Planet Earth vibrates at a hertz frequency of 8-12 Hertz, although there is some speculation that earth is increasing the frequency. When you walk barefoot on the ground everyone notices how they feel the whisper of youth calling to them. The child in you remembers being able to run barefoot through the grass in your yard and the sweetness felt in your soul. This is true grounding. When you go out barefoot it allows the exchange of the positive and negative ions from you to earth and earth to you. Because of so many outside sources of EMF’s (Electro-Magnetic Frequencies) we are subjected to from power lines, TV’s, microwaves, computers, even the cell & cordless phones, cause we to absorb many of these EMF which cause an electrical distortion through our body. There are many scientific studies done continuously on the short and long term affects to the human body. Because we are all vibrational beings and vibrate at a certain frequency ourselves, when it is interfered with or distorted it allows for the stressors physically, emotionally and /or chemically to come into us and set us up for “dis-ease” in the body. This is how illness can begin.

So relax and take time to smell the roses, walk to a waterfall or up to the mountains or down the beach you love will give you the opportunity to ground back with the earth. This starts your healing on a level you may have not ever considered. Consider it now…breathing clean air, slowing down your heart rate and letting go of the many of sources of negativity that distract you in your daily routine.

Taking time to go to a quiet place, pray, meditate, spend time with some animals and just refresh your soul will heal you on levels and in ways that you may not even consider that is healing. It is our world which has become very fast paced and we forget the child inside of us who are the seekers of fun and festivities. Consider them because it will bring you a higher quality of life, probably lengthen your physical life while renewing and getting you back in touch with the earth, your spirit and that sweet child inside of you.

Good vs. Bad Carbohydrates

By Kim Pullon, CNS

How many of us have been taken in by the Low-Carb diet craze? How many STILL believe they must eliminate carbs from their diet to lose or maintain weight? Amazingly, the answer to these questions - a lot of people. Now, how many of us know the difference between a good carb and a bad one?

So, what are carbohydrates and why are they necessary to maintain a healthy diet?

Carbohydrates are important to your diet, period. Carbs should never be avoided but it is important to understand what carbs are and the difference between a good carb and a bad one.

Carbohydrates provide the body with a source of energy to keep it functioning. Energy also comes from protein and fats sources. More than half of the energy in our diets comes from carbohydrates. The main source of this energy comes from glucose. Our body’s cells metabolize glucose to produce carbon dioxide, water and ATP (a high-energy molecule used by the body to perform energy-requiring activities.) About 60 to 75 % of energy is used to maintain basic body functions. Called basal metabolism, which is essential for all of the life-sustaining functions your body needs to stay alive: circulation blood, breathing, regulation body temperature, removing waste and synthesizing tissues.

Glucose that is not needed for energy is then stored in the muscle and liver as glycogen. These stores are important because your brain, red blood cells and other types of cells must have glucose to stay alive. When you have not eaten carbohydrates for a while, your glycogen stores are broken down to release stored glucose. Glycogen that is stored in muscle provides glucose to the muscles as an energy source during activities. Glycogen that is broken down from the liver provides blood glucose that is delivered to cell in the body. When your glycogen stores have been used up, your body must make more glucose to function.

Carbohydrates are not the enemy. To understand what carbohydrates really are, one must understand the difference between complex and simple carbs.

Complex carbohydrates (good) like whole grains and legumes contain sugar molecules that takes the body longer to break down and are higher in fiber which provides you with longer periods of energy. Your body takes it’s nutrients from complex carbs. Complex carbohydrates protects you from heart disease, lowers the risk of diabetes, relieves or prevents the risk of bowl disorders and reduces the risk of colon cancer.

Simple carbohydrates (bad) are made up of refined sugars and low in fiber that have little nutritional value to your body. They digest quicker through your body. Cookies, cakes, candies are part of what makes up simple carbs. However, an exception to this rule is fruits and vegetables. Composed of unrefined simple sugars, they fall under the category of simple carbohydrates however, they are high in fiber. Fruits and vegetables are also composed of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and micronutrients the body needs to function. The fiber changes the way the sugar is processed and helps to slow down digestion which allows the nutrients to be absorbed into the body.

Is there really a fat gene? While scientists continue to debate that question, Americans continue to make poor eating choices. Most people get plenty of carbohydrates from food products high in added sugars. What you weigh is a balance between what you eat, your lifestyle choices and the genes you inherit. These genes predetermine your body shape and size. People who tend to eat a high-energy diet, larger portions but get little exercise end up overweight.

To maintain a healthy diet, you must eliminate sugary items such as soda, candy, artificial syrups, white rice, bread, pastas, pastries and desserts. Eat nutritionally dense foods, smaller portions and exercise daily.

Conclusion: Low carbohydrate diets are not the key to good health. Make smart choices and focus on a diet and lifestyle that provides the energy needed to maintain good health.

The Way of Water

By Phyllis Pipkin, CMT, CPT, CLT

Earth is seventy percent water. Our beautiful blue planet is alive, thanks to the constant movement of water. Water that is alive. Water is constantly changing forms; whether from liquid to solid, to gas and back. Rain falls from the clouds or condensation of the atmosphere. This creates lakes, underground streams rivers and oceans even when they are completely or partially frozen for a bit of time, all teeming with LIFE!

Water has for years been given the title “The Fountain of Youth”. Constant changes in scientific breakthroughs are showing us that this is in fact true! There are many books and peer reviewed articles in journals that demonstrate this. So this theory of many years is proven that water truly is healing and vital for us. As more people seek to become their own healer, we discover that simply drinking “live, healthy” water actually increases our life span by making us more vital in spite of the fact that our chronological age increases.

When you consider the healing properties of water, it brings us back to different youthful parts we experienced. Remember the joy of discovering water? Seeing pictures of yourself or relatives that were babies in the bathtub? The fun of splashing and being in the water, with no cares.

What about the first time you swam under water and marveled at what you could see, hear and do? Would you pretend you were a fish, dolphin or mermaid? Would you wish you could breathe like a fish so you could stay underwater longer and explore? The feeling of weightlessness, this freedom brought an inner joy to your soul. You connected with something deep in yourself, where you had complete peace.

The more energized, live water we have in our system, the lighter we become-mentally (our brains are actually 85% water), physically we lose weight and spiritually we take on the “light or vibration of light” that heals us on an unconscious level.

Humans come into this world being approximately being ninety percent water, as we age and shift, we actually “shrink” to around seventy percent water. Most people when they leave the Earth are only about) fifty percent water (when we reach the 50% water status we can no longer maintain a sufficient life force).

As babies we are born in an alkaline pH state and as we age we become more acidic due to increased stress whether the factors are environmental or emotional. The pH level in our body is important because of cellular and organ function. The blood must maintain a very strict pH level that varies only slight degrees. Our internal terrain thrives in an alkaline environment and can do the normal chemical functions it was designed to with the correct pH. It is vital that we learn the importance of not only healing our bodies but what type of water actually increase exponentially our ability to heal our selves.

Water circulates throughout our bodies in one form or another keeping us alive. The body fluids of blood, lymph, breast milk, semen, urine, etc. are all composed of water. The fluids within us also help in regulating our body temperature. The lymph and blood move between our cells and through our cells bringing energy, removing wastes (toxins which maybe be by-products of breathing, foods and emotional stressors created within ourselves), bringing oxygen from breathing, hormones essential for organ growth & function, and nutrition from foods, other liquids and/or supplements, we take which travels to each of our cells, allowing the chemical and electrical reactions and actions to occur.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, each organ has a unique vibration as do emotions. When you have an abundance of negative emotions or vibrations within the body it will create/carry the negative vibration to various organs to stress them out. This is where “dis-ease” often begins in the body. Remember that water is an incredible carrier of vibration, capable of disbursing the negative and positive emotions throughout our bodies.

There are many types of water available to us. These are tap, bottled, reverse osmosis, distilled, ionized and alkalizing. Many scientific studies have been done as to what is the healthiest water to drink. Different studies done on the people of the Hunza districts in Pakistan, Shin-Can areas of China, the Caucasus in Azerbaijai and in the Andes Mountains, science has discovered that these people live longer lives with less health problems.

Research has shown that the waters in these regions are pure (from the aspect of pollution free), alkalized, ionized, have naturally occurring minerals, sediment and carries a negative redox (ORP, which stands for Oxidation Reduction Potential and means “potential” electrical millivoltage energy that is stored, can be measured and ready to be put to work). All of these facts combined come from the information that these waters have intimate contact with volcanic materials/minerals and/or cascade over certain igneous rocks.

This type of water is not only mineral rich, which alkalizes the water, it also is restructured creating natural ionization or “negative ions” by coming down the mountains cascading over rocks and waterfalls as it flows in the streams and rivers. What science has been able to do is recreate the same type of water found in the areas list above with machines that filter, ionize and alkalize the water at the same time.

There are several different types of trace minerals which are nutritionally important for our body function. These include the alkaline minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium and sodium, not as significant are manganese and iron. The acid trace minerals we need are chlorine, sulfur, phosphorus, which forms hydrochloric acid, sulfuric and phosphoric acid. When water is ionized, it is actually restructured or micro-cluster its molecules are smaller which enables us greater absorption through the cellular matrix of the body. Water that comes from an ionizer is split in a ratio of 70% alkaline and 30% acid.

Both types of water are healthy for us. Our internal terrain craves an alkaline pH to carry on the functions of our body. Alkaline water helps to dissolve the acids and toxins that are stored in your cells. These toxins cause inflammation, free radical damage and may destroy your healthy cells by stealing oxygen, which allows each cell to carry on the function of the body.

Filtered water alone from an ionizer is the first step in cleaning water by pulling out harmful components of the water such as chlorine, phenols, sediment, trihalomethanes, bacteria, viruses, organic waste and heavy metals. This in itself is the beginning of capturing the “Fountain of Youth” in your water.

Pure water from distillers or R/O (reverse osmosis) is neutral on the electrical spectrum, neither positive nor negative. It cannot be ionized because it will not carry an electrical charge. Pure water also will never test at a pH 7 (neutral) except after it is immediately produced. This type of water is extremely aggressive and will absorb anything it can. It can and will absorb carbon dioxide from air which changes the pH to acid water instantly and increase the ORP reading 0 to +400 or higher.

Once we begin to read about the benefits of drinking this type of water, we realize being able to absorb water that is restructured means that we hydrate ourselves up to six times more than with conventional water. This allows for greater mineral and nutritional absorption especially when we eat foods grown in an organic, mineral rich environment.

It also encourages “friendly micro-flora” in our gut that takes the stress off both our large intestine and our liver so that each may function at the optimal level. When you consider that the bulk of food that we eat is composed of water, we realize how important water again is to us. Vegetables and fruits are 90% water, fish and meat are around 70% water.

Ionized, alkalized water units are becoming more popular with more information about the state of our tap water contaminated with heavy metals, toxins from chemicals, pesticides and possible medications coming from our faucets, bottled water that leaches toxins from the plastic it is stored in or other types of filtration systems such as distillers or R/O which leach precious minerals from our bodies.
